Current Context: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has proposed a 36% hike in stipend under the NAPS scheme.

ABOUT NAPS

• Launched in August 2016; extended as NAPS 2.0 from FY 2022–23.
• Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
• Funding:
  • Central Sector Scheme (100% funded by Central Government).
  • Part of the Skill India Programme.
• Objectives:
  • Financial incentives to establishments hiring apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

To promote apprenticeship training and skill development.
