BACKGROUND: The territories included in the Kangra district were originally a part of the Jalandhara or Trigarta Kingdom. The Trigarta at that time comprised of all the regions between the Satluj and the Ravi in the outer hills and the Jalandhara Doab on the plains, as well as a tract to the east of the Satluj, probably it was Sirhind.
