 ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY:

  • Instituted in 2010at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit to support global efforts for the protection of tigers.
  • Highlights major threats such as habitat destructionpoaching, and illegal trade.
  • Promotes the need to preserve tiger habitats and strengthen anti-poaching strategies.
  • India is home to nearly 70% of the world’s wild tiger population, making it central to global conservation efforts.
