- Commemorative stamps are special issues by postal authorities to honor or commemorate significant events, people, places, or anniversaries, national/international issues, games
- These stamps are only available at Philatelic Bureauxand counters or under the Philatelic Deposit Account Scheme.
- They are typically issued in limited quantities and for a limited period.
- Some of the rules for issuing Commemorative Postage Stamps
- Proposals for issueof Commemorative Postage Stamps may be sent by any citizen of India.
- Stamps issued to mark the 50th, 60th, and 75th anniversaries of India’s independence.
- Stamps featuring prominent personalities such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Rabindranath Tagore, and other significant leaders.
- No stampwill be issued on a living personality.
- These are released by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications.
