- Originated from Shan State, Myanmar, migrating to Tripura via Chittagong Hill Tracts and Mizoram during the 18th century.

- Speak “Kaubru,” a Tibeto-Burmese language influenced by the Kuki dialect and part of the Kok-Borok family.
