  • The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), in collaboration with agri-land marketplace SFarmsIndia has launched IIMA-SFarmsIndia Agri Land Price Index (ISALPI), which will record and present ‘quality controlled’ data of prices of agricultural land across the country.
  • This index is important in terms of benchmarking land prices in rural and semi-urban areas. In such a case, the index will serve as a reliable source that will signal potential conversion of agricultural land into real estate.
  • With ISALPI, better data sources for all stakeholders to be able to take informed decisions at national as well as regional levels and support the agribusiness activities.”
  • Unlike financial assets, developing an index for land parcels is a complex task because of visible price differences in different listings caused by a slew of factors including the market wide supply-demand factors.
  • Currently ISALPI is based on land listing data from six states – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

  • ‘Khelo India Youth Games-2021’ is being organized jointly by the Haryana Government, Sports Authority of India (SAI), and Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from June 4 to 13.
  • Round 8,500 players, coaches and support staff from across the country will participate in the fourth edition of ‘Khelo India Youth Games2021’.
  • Players will show their mettle for a total of 1866 medals which includes 545 Gold, 545 Silver, and 776 Bronze medals. As many as 25 types of sports will be organized at five venues Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Chandigarh, and Delhi.
  • Five traditional sports namely Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Mallakhamb, and Yogasana have also been included in this prestigious competition for the first time.

  • Dr S Somanath, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), inaugurated ANANTH Technologies’ spacecraft manufacturing unit at Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
  • The new state-of-the-art spacecraft manufacturing facility can conduct assembly integration and testing of four large spacecraft simultaneously.
  • This is a first of its kind facility in India. Since its establishment in 1992, Ananth Technologies has contributed to the manufacturing of 89 satellites and 69 launch vehicles built/launched by ISRO.

  • The Punjab government has decided to abolish the physical stamp papers in an attempt to bring efficiency and check the pilferage of State revenue.
  • Punjab Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa launched the ‘e-stamp facility’. Following this, stamp paper of any denomination can now be obtained via ‘e-stamp’, which includes computerised print-out from any stamp vendor or from banks authorised by the State government.
  • The Punjab government will pay a commission of2% to the stamp vendors on e-stamps ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 19,999, while the general public would get stamp paper at the actual rate. For instance, they will have to pay only Rs 100 for a stamp paper of Rs 100 and no extra commission will be levied. This step will also help in curbing the stamp paper-linked fraud.

  • Farmers, who have become adept in natural farming, will be sent as master trainers across the country. This was disclosed by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat at the ‘Prakritik Kheti Utkrisht Kisan Sammelan’ organised by the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y).
  • Chemical farming was responsible for climate change to the extent of 24 per cent.
  • Natural farming technique could save land, cows, environment and water and it would increase the income of farmers.
  • The tie-up between the State Marketing Board and the PK3Y to provide better market platform for the natural produce in Himachal Pradesh.
  • State had marginal and small landholders and the farmers here use more chemicals to increase productivity. This had badly affected the soil quality and its ill-effect is visible on the human health also.
