World Braille Day

Observed annually on January 4th, commemorates the birth of Louis Braille, the inventor of the braille system.

• Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018.
• The day has been celebrated since 2019 to raise awareness about the importance of braille as a means of communication for blind and visually impaired individuals.
