- The idea was first proposed by India’s Prime Minister in 2019 and officially launched in April 2023 to mark the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger.

- Five countries ratified the IBCA Framework Agreement: India, Nicaragua, Eswatini, Somalia, and Liberia.
- 27 countries have expressed intent to join IBCA for global big cat conservation efforts.
