First Supreme Court judge from Manipur

Current Context : Justice N Kotiswar Singh took oath of office and became the first judge to the Supreme Court from Manipur.

• Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud administered the oath of office.
• Justice Singh is originally from Manipur.
• He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the HC for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in February 2023.
