BIMSTEC Secretary-General Tenzin Lekphell to arrive in India on 4-day visit.

• The Secretary General of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Tenzin Lekphell will arrive in Delhi on a 4-day official visit.
• The Secretary General is visiting India on the invitation of Saurabh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs.

ABOUT

• BIMSTEC is a regional multilateral organization comprising 7 Member States lying in the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal.
• It came into being on 6 June 1997 through the Bangkok Declaration.
• The seven Member States ae Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand.
• It has its secretariat at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
