Current Context : Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is set to become the first tiger reserve in the world to offer an aerial safari via a ropeway system.
- The ropeway, being developed by the French company POMA SAS, will allow visitors to experience the reserve’s4 sq. km landscape.
ABOUT TADOBA-ANDHARI TIGER RESERVE:
- Situated in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is Maharashtra’s largest and oldest tiger reserve.
- Named after Tadoba, a local deity, and Andhari River, which flows through the forest.
- Total area: 4 sq. km.
- It comprises Tadoba National Park (116.55 sq. km) and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary (508.85 sq. km).
- It connects with Nagzira-Navegaon and Pench Tiger Reserves.
- It falls under the Central Plateau province of the Deccan Peninsula, with Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous
- Vegetation includes teak, bamboo, and medicinal plants like Beheda and Bija.
- There are two lakes and one waterway in the reserve, Tadoba Lake, Kolsa Lake, and the Tadoba River.
