RELEVANT FACTS ABOUT REPORT :
- At least 38 per cent of the Indian population ate unhealthy foods, while only 28 per cent ate all five recommended food groups, which include at least one starchy staple food, one vegetable, one fruit, one pulse, nut or seed and one animal-source food.
- As a result of poor diet, 6% Indians suffer from malnutrition.
- More than half of children under the age of five and two-thirds of adult women were affected by micronutrient deficiencies.
- More than two billion people, many of them in Africa and South Asia cannot afford a healthy diet.
