The Uganda Cricket Association has named Indian former first-class cricketer Abhay Sharma as the new head coach of the men's national team in the run-up to the Twenty20 World Cup. Abhay Sharma has previous coaching stints with India A and India Under-19s, as well as the Indian women's cricket team and the Delhi Ranji Trophy team. The Cricket Cranes have booked their place in the competition for the first time and will be among 20 teams at the tournament being jointly hosted by the United States and the West Indies from June 1.Read More

Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, has signed a four-year global partnership with international football association Fifa. The energy giant will become Fifa’s major worldwide partner with sponsorship rights for multiple events, including the Fifa World Cup 26, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and the Fifa Women’s World Cup 2027. Saudi Arabia was set to be formally declared as the host of the 2034 Fifa World Cup after Australia decided not to apply in October 2023. Saudi sponsorship will help fuel income for FIFA’s 2023-26 commercial cycle which was conservatively budgeted to be $11 billion.Read More

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced Olympic legend Usain Bolt as an ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be played in the West Indies and USA from 1-29 June 2024. ABOUT USAIN BOLT Usain Bolt is a legend in track and field athletics. In 2017, he set the world record in the 100-metre race. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Bolt won gold in the men’s 100-metre, 200 metres and 4x100 metres. He created a new world record in all three events. Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took his 200th IPL wicket to become the first bowler to achieve the feat in the franchise tournament. Chahal dismissed Mumbai Indians all-rounder Mohammad Nabi caught and bowled for 23 with his leg-spin as he celebrated the achievement at Rajasthan’s home ground in Jaipur. Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal announced his retirement from professional squash. During his career, Ghosal won 12 Professional Squash Association (PSA) titles and multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) and Asian Games. He was also a former top 10 athlete in world squash rankings in April 2019 and remained there for six months, the only Indian man to enter the top 10 in the World rankings. Nepal all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee smashed six sixes in an over to become the third batsman to ever achieve the feat in a T20 International. The 24-year-old joined India's Yuvraj Singh and West Indian Kieron Pollard after a sizzling knock against Qatar in the ACC Men's Premier Cup match in Al Amerat.
