Raja Bir Chand , a cadet of chandel rajput family of Chanderi Bundelkhand , was the founder of Bilaspur. He built a temple of goddess Naina Devi on Naina Devi dhar and below it founded his capital.
Raja Ajit Chand founded the ruling dynasty of Hindur, which later came to be known as Nalagarh. According to one account, the ruling family of Nalagarh are descended from Suchet Chand, who was installed as the raja of Hindur by Ajit chand.
Due to the harsh and tyranical behaviour of Raja Megh Chand he was forced by people to leave the state and he took asylum in Kullu. Ultimately with the help of Delhi’s Sultan, Shamsu-ud-din Altutmish ,he regained the lost Kingdom.
