ABOUT MAWMLUH CAVE
Mawmluh Cave, in Meghalaya has been listed as one of the ‘First 100 IUGS
(International Union of Geological Sciences) Geological Sites’ in the world.
Mawmluh Cave is located is located in Sohra (well-known as Cherrapunji) of the East Khasi Hills District (Meghalaya).
Mawmluh Cave also known as Krem Mawmluh, is the fourth longest cave in the Indian subcontinent with a total length of seven kilometre of cave passages and was first explored by a British official Lieutenant Yule in 1844.
Set at an altitude of 4503 m, the cave belongs to the Meghalayan Age and is famous for its stalagmite and other rock formations.
