ABOUT CHANDRAYAAN-3

• Chandrayaan-3 is an Indian lunar exploration mission developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
• Aims to achieve a soft landing on the Moon, focusing on demonstrating the capabilities of lander and rover technology.
• Objective : to analyze the lunar surface composition, study its mineralogy, and look for water ice.
• It consists of a lander and a rover.
• Launched on July 14, 2023.
• Launch Vehicle: GSLV Mk III (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III) also known as LVM-3
• Landing: The successful soft landing occurred on August 23, 2023.

ABOUT SIMILIPAL TIGER RESERVE

• It is a prominent wildlife sanctuary located in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, India.
• Area: Covers approximately 2,750 square kilometers,
• Declared a Tiger Reserve in 1973 and a National Park in 1980.
• Flora: ncluding tropical moist deciduous forests, semi-evergreen forests, and grasslands. Major tree species include sal, teak, and bamboo.
• Fauna: including the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephant, and various species of deer. Other notable species include the leopard, wild boar, and several bird species such as the crested serpent eagle and the hornbill.

Current Context : Indian and Danish governments have unveiled the Smart Laboratory on Clean Rivers (SLCR) Project.

• Collaboration : The Indian Institute of Technology – Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Government of Denmark, and the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, have formed an alliance to advance small river management and rejuvenation.
• Funding : The Ministry of Jal Shakti provided the collaboration with an initial funding of Rs 1680 crore, while Denmark provided an extra grant of Rs 5 crore to support project development and long-term sustainability.
• It includes creating a Decision Support System (DSS) for water management that will use hydrological models.

• The sensor appears yellow when dissolved but turns colorless when cyanide is detected, providing an easy visual signal.
• Used in manufacturing for paper, textiles, plastics, and in photographic chemicals.
• The World Health Organisation (WHO) has set strict guidelines for its presence in potable water, limiting cyanide concentrations to below 0.19 mg/L due to its lethal effects on humans and aquatic life.
