Answer:

The Himachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board (HPKVIB) is a statutory body created by an act of Legislative assembly. It came into existence on 8th January, 1968. The original Act of 1966 has been subsequently amended during the year 1981 and 1987.

The department of Industry is administrative department of KVIB. The objectives of the board are broadly given as under:

• The social objective of providing employment.
• The economic objective of producing saleable articles.
• The wider objective of creating self-reliance amongst the poor and building up of a strong rural community spirit.

The Board is playing a pivotal role in rural industrialization and employment generation by encouraging rural artisans/entrepreneurs to establish micro/village industries at their doorsteps thereby, utilizing locally available raw material and skills.
