Himachal Pradesh Allied Examination

Age Limit

The minimum age limit for the HPPSC Allied Services posts is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 45 years, which varies for reserved categories. The relaxations provided by the commission for reserved categories is as described below:

  • The age of the candidates shall be reckoned on 1st January 2020
  • Five years relaxation in upper age limit is admissible only to the bonafide SC/ST/OBC of H.P./WFF of H.P./Persons with disabilities of Himachal Pradesh. For H.P. Govt. employees and Ex-servicemen of H.P.; age relaxation is as per the Government’s instructions issued from time to time.

Educational Qualification

The aspirants applying for the HPPSC Allied Services Exam must satisfy the eligibility criteria. The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized Educational Institute of India. The candidates who have a technical/professional qualification that is equivalent to the degree can also apply for this post.

The candidates must also have a good knowledge of the customs, languages, and manners of the state of Himachal Pradesh. For class-III allied services post, the candidate must have a 10th pass certificate and 10+2 from any school of Himachal Pradesh.

Nationality 

The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

Preliminary Examination:

  • The questions are objective in nature.
  • The exam is conducted for 3 hours
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks

Syllabus:

  • History, Geography and socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh
  • Knowledge of current events of national and international importance and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject.
  • Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India, and Disaster Management. Environment and Gender issues and teaching of Mahatma Gandhi.

Distribution of Marks:

  • History, Geography and socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh. (60 Marks)
  • Knowledge of current events of national and international importance and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. (60 Marks)
  • Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India, and Disaster Management. Environment and Gender issues and teaching of Mahatma Gandhi.(80 Marks)

Main Examination

  • The questions are objective in nature.
  • Each Paper is conducted for 3 hours.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks.

Syllabus

English (Conventional):

  • Candidates will be required to answer questions to determine their English language skills and the usage of similar vocabulary of words.
  • Some of the questions will be devised to test also their reasoning power, their capacity to perceive implications, their ability to distinguish between the important and the less important.
  • To write an essay.
  • Passage will usually be set for summary or précis.
  • Credit will be given for concise the effective expression.

Hindi (Conventional):

  • Translation of an English passage into Hindi.
  • Explanation of Hindi passage in Prose and Poetry in the same language.
  • Composition (Essay, Idioms, Correction etc).

General Knowledge:

  • History, geography, and socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject.
  • The paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian polity, Indian Economy and Geography of India of such nature as candidates should be able to answer without special study and question on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
