Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty claimed their first title of the year at the French Open after defeating Chinese Taipei, Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan, in just 36 minutes in the French Open 2024. The Indian pair won by a 21-11, 21-17 scoreline in the men’s doubles final. This is the first title the Indians have won in 2024 and their seventh world tour title. Puneri Paltan won Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League after defeating Haryana Steelers 28-25 to secure their maiden championship. The final was held at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad. Chandigarh University clinched the overall championships of the 4th Khelo India University Games 2023. Khelo India University Games (KIUG), which is being hosted by northeastern states this year, started on February 17, 2024. The Games have begun formally in Guwahati. As many as 4,500 athletes are participating in the 11-day KIUG. A total of 213 universities from across the country will participate in the event. The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot will now be known as the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium. Niranjan Shah played first-class cricket for Saurashtra in a career spanning from the 1965/66 to 1974/75. He played an instrumental role in turning around the fortunes of Saurashtra, who have two Ranji Trophy titles to their credit. In addition to being the honorary secretary of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA), a position he continues to serve, he has had administrative experience in different capacity, including being the honorary secretary of the BCCI, a position where he was elected four times.Read More
