‘Poshan Utsav’

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) organized the ‘Poshan Utsav’ in New Delhi, aiming to advocate and spread the importance of proper nutrition. The ministry unveiled the ‘Poshan Utsav Book’ and introduce a “cartoon coalition” in support of the POSHAN cause. Curated by the Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) and backed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the ‘Poshan Utsav Book’ is crafted to promote cultural heritage and traditional nutritional practices. This campaign is an effort for observing World’s Birth defect day, which is observed on 3rd of March every year and the National Birth Defect Awareness Month is an initiative in raising awareness for all birth defects and improve the care and treatment for children. Six percent of children are born with Birth Defects every year worldwide. The theme of this National Birth Defect Awareness Month 2024 is “Breaking Barriers: inclusive support for children with birth defects”. Kerala recently initiated Operation AMRITH (Antimicrobial Resistance Intervention for Total Health). This programme enforces the original H1 rule, mandating a doctor’s prescription for acquiring any class of antibiotics. BACKGROUND In 2011, the Indian government introduced the H1 rule to prohibit the over-the-counter (OTC) sales of antibiotics without a prescription, responding to the growing concern over antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The Centre launched an initiative to improve nutrition in adolescent girls using Ayurveda. The project for anaemia control under Mission Utkarsh will be a joint public health initiative by the Ministries of Ayush and Women and Child Development. It would be launched in five aspirational districts first as a pilot project. In a significant step forward towards eliminating Kala Azar, India has achieved the target of reporting less than one case per 10,000 population across all blocks in 2023. IIT Guwahati has launched India’s “largest” Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO). The initiative was launched in collaboration with EduRade, a brand under RC HobbyTech Solutions Pvt. Ltd (RCH).
