The UN’s top relief official released $100 million from the organization’s core humanitarian emergency fund- CERF, to support underfunded aid operations in seven countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. Philippines has become the first Asian country to ratify a convention to end workplace violence and harassment. The International Labor Organisation said that the Philippines deposited the instrument of ratification of the Violence and Harassment Convention 2019 (No. 190) Convention No. 190 serves as the inaugural international labor standard to comprehensively address violence and harassment in the realm of work. Mission Aspides

The European Union has launched ‘Mission Aspides’, a naval mission to protect cargo ships in the Red Sea from attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The naval mission will send European warships and airborne early warning systems to the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and surrounding waters. The operational command centre will be in the Greek city of Larissa. Aspides vessels will have orders to fire on the Houthis only if they attack first and will not be authorised to shoot pre-emptively.Read More
