Daljit Singh Chawdhary given additional charge as BSF DG

Current Context : Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Daljit Singh Chawdhary has taken over the additional charge of Director General, Border Security Force.

• Chawdhary is a senior IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He assumed the charge of DG SSB in January this year.

• It is a paramilitary force in India responsible for guarding the nation’s borders.
• Established: December 1, 1965
• Primary Duties: Guarding India’s land borders, ensuring internal security in certain areas and preventing cross-border crimes especially from Pakistan and Bangladesh
